Unmanned Aid or U-Aid as defined by ICAO consist on "Humanitarian aid and emergency response operations, referred to collectively as “U-AID”, can include scheduled and unscheduled medical deliveries or provide emergency response to victims of natural or man-made disasters."

U-AID applications may consist of tracking and mapping population movement and gathering after a disaster (IDP) to enhance an effective and efficient response by ground personnel as well as creating ad-hoc telecommunication. It also consists of delivering aid supply such as medicine, blood and vaccines to support remote health post and immunisation campaign in remote location.

Use cases include:

- Assess natural disasters such as fires and floods to enable a safer and more prepared rescue effort

- Mapping displaced people gathering for effective planning and monitoring

- Last-mile medical supply deliver

- Delivery vaccines to support immunisation campaign in remote location

- Ad-hoc aerial security monitoring for relief item distributions

Unmanned Search And Rescue referred to as U-SAR uses Unmanned System Technology mainly UAV’s to geo-localise a missing person by means of high tech applications such as mobile phone localisation, thermal imageries in support of ground, marine and aerial SAR operations to localise lost people, vessels as well as deliver lifesaving equipment such as lifejacket and defibrillator.

Specialised UAV’s can rapidly deliver lifejackets and defibrillators where needed, when need, where accessibility is time-critical and challenging.

U-SAR saves considerable cost compared to manned aircraft and can be deployed in a matter of minutes.

Use cases include:

- Locating missing persons with high-resolution cameras and thermal infrared sensors

- Locating missing person using mobile phone signal

- Delivering emergency supplies or communications equipment to stranded or lost persons

- Dropping life-saving flotation devices (buoys, PFDs, etc.) to individuals in turbulent waters
